Bananatex or banana hemp

Banana hemp is one of the innovative materials we met at an exhibition in London.

In 2015, the designers of the Swiss brand of bags Qwstion first crossed the globe in search of a banana tree, which locals call "Banana Hemp" or "Abacá" to explore its potential.

As it turned out, Abaca trees are grown in their natural environment and do not require pesticides or additional watering.

This made it possible to plant trees in the Philippines, thereby increasing the economic prosperity of farmers, and the company received raw materials from which, after several years of research, created a very environmentally friendly material Bananatex, ideal for bags and other accessories.
